This notice explains, in general terms, how Vic Legacy Auto collects and processes personal information in connection with its motor dealership, vehicle sales, finance and insurance facilitation, workshop, service, customer support and related business activities.

We may collect personal information directly from you when you visit Vic Legacy Auto, contact us, enquire about or purchase a vehicle, apply for finance or insurance-related products, book workshop or service work, use our website or online functions, or otherwise transact with us.
Information may also be received from authorised referral partners, finance providers, insurers, credit bureaux, vehicle-related service providers or other lawful sources where appropriate.
Certain information may be required in order for us to conclude a transaction, provide requested products or services, meet legal or regulatory requirements, perform customer identification and verification, process vehicle finance applications, complete vehicle sales documentation, licensing or registration processes, or provide workshop and related services.
Depending on the transaction, this may include identity information and documents, proof of address, driver’s licence details, contact details, financial information and other information reasonably required for the relevant service. Other information may be supplied voluntarily where it assists us in providing the requested service.
Where information is legally or contractually required, failure to provide it may prevent Vic Legacy Auto or its authorised service providers from concluding a transaction, processing an application, complying with legal obligations or providing the requested product or service.
Vic Legacy Auto will process personal information only where there is a lawful basis to do so, including where processing is necessary to comply with legal obligations, to enter into or perform a contract, to pursue legitimate business interests permitted by law, or where valid consent has been obtained when consent is required.

Vic Legacy Auto may disclose personal information to third parties where reasonably necessary for a transaction or service, including finance houses, insurers, vehicle manufacturers or suppliers, licensing and registration service providers, workshop or parts suppliers, professional advisers, IT and system providers, payment service providers, auditors, regulators and other authorised business partners.
Where third parties act as operators on our behalf, we require appropriate safeguards and expect them to process personal information only for authorised purposes and in accordance with applicable law.
Personal information will be retained only for as long as required by applicable law, reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, required for the duration of our dealings with you, or necessary for legitimate record-keeping, contractual or legal purposes.
Information will thereafter be securely destroyed, deleted or de-identified where appropriate.
Where personal information is transferred or processed outside the Republic of South Africa, Vic Legacy Auto will take reasonable steps to ensure that the transfer and processing comply with POPIA and that appropriate safeguards are in place where required.
